Amy, our Health Coach can work with you to help and empower you to take a more active role in managing your own health.

Amy has been with us here at the Practice since July 2023.  She holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences majoring in Public Health from the University of Canterbury. This has provided her with broad experience and skills to explore ways of helping people gain knowledge, skills and the confidence that they need to take an active part in their own lives.

A session with Amy can focus on lifestyle changes around:

  • Physical exercise
  • Nutrition
  • Self-care
  • Weight management
  • Sleep
  • Getting into routines
  • Managing long term conditions such as diabetes, gout, elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure and more.

The sessions are:

  • For individuals, couples and groups
  • They are FREE fully funded appointments
  • About 30 minutes

Amy is available three days a week:

Monday: 12pm to 4:30pm

Amy is involved in the facilitation of The Talking Café, this is held every Tuesday at the St Martins Community Centre from 10am to 12pm. This group provides an opportunity for social connection alongside a cup of tea or coffee. Each week a theme is chosen and those in the group are provided with education on certain topics and able to engage in games such as BINGO and Scattergories.

Amy has recently established the St Martins Friday Walking group along side Shelby the Community support worker. This group meets every Friday at 9:45am for a 45-minute brisk walk or a 20-minute gentle pace walk, we end the walk at Fava Café which gives us an opportunity for social connection. Please feel free to enquire about either of these groups with reception or Amy herself.

In her personal life Amy enjoys baking and cooking nutritious meals for her partner and two children. She also enjoys going for walks and exploring all the eateries Christchurch has to offer.

Appointments with Amy are available in person at the Practice or over the phone, to book an appointment please contact reception or ask your Doctor or Nurse to introduce you.
