Appointments

Enrolled patients can make appointments via our reception team 03 337 0991 or through our online patient portal.

All of our doctors are affiliated with the Royal New Zealand College of GP’s and provide a full range of general practice services. We allocate 15 minutes for consultations which is generally enough time to deal with one major or two minor issues. If you have a number of complex issues, you will need to book a double appointment. We do our best to run to time but the unpredictable nature of our work means that sometimes there may be a wait.

When booking please provide as much relevant information as possible, as this will enable us to allocate the appropriate time with the doctor and avoid unnecessary waiting.

If your problem is urgent please explain to the receptionist and she may ask you to talk to the nurse. All emergencies will take priority and appointment times are approximate.

Longer appointments

The following type of consultations will need extra time and need to be booked via the reception team:

  • Multiple health concerns
  • More than 1 patient being discussed
  • Drivers licence medicals
  • Employment / Health insurance medicals
  • Minor surgery
  • IUCD insertion
  • Interpreter required
Interpreter services

If English is your second language and you require an interpreter for your consult, let us know when you book your appointment and an interpreter can be arranged at no cost.  They are available either by phone or in person but they do need to be booked in advance of the appointment.

Interpreting NZ offers interpreters that are usually native speakers of the languages they interpret, recruited from New Zealand’s  migrant and refugee background population.  They are sensitive to community customs and needs.

They also provide qualified NZ Sign Language interpreters for the deaf.

Payment

Please note that payment is expected on the day. If you are unable to pay, please discuss with your doctor or one of our reception team who can arrange a payment plan for you.

Telephone consultations

Patients are welcome to book a telephone consult with their doctor. This can be booked with reception or via the online ManageMyHealth patient portal. Please make sure your contact telephone number is correct and if booking online that you note the appointment is for a “telephone” consult.  Telephone consults incur the same costs as a Face to Face consult, but do save you travel time and waiting time!

Nurse appointments

Some services can be provided by the nurse rather than a doctor. Services such as those listed below can be booked with the nurse. To book an appointment, please call reception

  • Blood test
  • Blood pressure check
  • Ear Syringing
  • Liquid nitrogen (follow up after doctor has previously assessed)
  • Change of dressing

Urgent Appointments

If you have an emergency please call 111

During normal clinic hours (Mon- Fri 8:30am- 5:00pm), we will always do our best to fit in with urgent needs. We have urgent slots available in each session, however this may not be with your regular doctor. Whilst we do our best to cater for urgent needs, unfortunately in some instances, due to high demand there may be no urgent slots available in which case you may be directed to the Pegasus Health afterhours clinic.

Cancellations

If you no longer need your appointment, please cancel and give us at least 2 hours notice as we may be able to reuse the appointment time. Please do not email us to cancel an appointment as the email may not be read in time. If you fail to attend your appointment or do not give us 2 hours notice of cancellation, we reserve the right to charge you for the full cost of the consultation.
