Hazel Smithies, Health Improvement Practitioner

Hazel graduated from Otago Polytechnic in 2016 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. She began her career in vocational rehabilitation and then developed a passion for mental health after moving to London and working in the community. Since returning to New Zealand, she has followed her passion and taken on the Health Improvement Practitioner role at St Martins Medical. She specializes in offering wellbeing support to individuals across all stages of life who are grappling with the impact of life’s stressors on their health. Hazel addresses a wide range of concerns including sleep disturbances, stress management, anxiety, mood regulation, relationship dynamics, addictions, and physical health challenges.

Sessions last between 20 to 30 minutes, are dedicated to addressing specific challenges one at a time. During these sessions, Hazel collaborates with clients to develop effective coping strategies and establish realistic well-being goals within a compassionate and non-judgmental environment.

Hazel’s services are provided free of charge and do not require a referral. Simply reach out to the reception desk to secure an appointment or ask your GP for more information.
