Dr. Merope Griffin

Merope was born in Northern Ireland, and spent her formative years between the United States and the UK. She completed medical school in Yorkshire, and after a few years working in NHS hospitals, moved from London to Greymouth in 2022, working in the Emergency Department before starting her current role as a GP registrar in 2024.

Merope has an interest in oncology and general medicine, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Precision Cancer Medicine and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Ethics. She has a special interest in the equitable care of people with intellectual disabilities and those with autism.

Outside of medicine, Merope enjoys beekeeping, tramping, scuba diving and open water swimming. She is an avid reader, and lives with her soon to be husband Logan, who is from Hokitika, and their two cats, Chocolate and Clifford.
